Inspired by Nature
& a little bit of Chaos

Fractal burns are a purely wild embodiment of Mother Nature. They are extremely dangerous & SHOULD NOT be performed without the supervision of a professional.

Twisted Sea takes pride in crafting truly unique, one-of-a-kind art pieces that will electrify your living space; inspired by the beauty and chaos that Mother Nature creates.

Lichtenberg Figures are named after Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, the German physicist that discovered them in 1777. They resemble tree roots, or lightning strikes, and are caused by high voltage discharge through a medium - in our case, wood blanks.

What are Lichtenberg Fractals?

Similar fractal-like patterns are prevalent throughout nature. They are seen in aerial views of rivers and tributaries, in organic structures such as branching tree limbs, and even our own circulatory and nervous systems.
It is theorized that these similar patterns may be a result of a recently proposed new law of physics, the Constructal Law, that states Nature has a tendency to develop a hierarchical branching network of paths that result in the most efficient flow of material. This material in question could be anything, including water, air, or electricity!

(for reference, the electric chair channels 2,000 - 3,000 volts)
We take extreme safety precautions and have multiple failsafes in place when working with this level of high voltage electricity.

The electricity follows the path of least resistance, making each and every masterpiece truly one-of-a-kind.

The art of harnessing electricity is an inherently dangerous one,
but as they say, “With great risk, comes great reward”.

Lichtenberg fractals require a great deal of high voltage electricity to craft, and should NEVER be attempted at home.

When crafting these pieces, we are coercing anywhere from 8,000 - 20,000V through each piece of wood.

Kaylee and Eric have been crafting art in many forms since 2016.

In 2020, they finally found their niche within their woodcrafting; combining their passions for pyrotechnics and Eric’s knowledge of electricity.
You will still find their first love, sea glass, sprinkled throughout Twisted Sea Designs as they continue to morph and expand their brand.

PLEASE remember, Fractal Burning is extremely dangerous. It should absolutely NEVER be tried at home, and certainly not without the supervision of a professional.

One wrong step could end in death.
